How long have you been at the Academy?
I started at the Academy in March of 2024.

What do you do as Manager of Professional Education & Digital Learning?
As a manager of Professional Education & Digital Learning, I serve as a staff liaison to the Education Steering Committee, nine education committees, and the Item Writing Workgroup. I collaborate with volunteers, staff, and external partners to coordinate the development of key educational products including the Otolaryngology Core Curriculum and OTO Quest, and I support coordination of Simulation Education events at our Annual Meeting, which provide opportunities for interactive and hands-on learning.

Tell us about one of your most memorable moments working for the Academy.
One of my most memorable moments was my first Education Steering Committee meeting in May 2024. It was an excellent introduction to the work of the education committees and gave me an opportunity to see firsthand the dedication and expertise of the volunteer leaders who shape otolaryngology education. Meeting the committee members in person and witnessing their collaborative approach to advancing medical education was both inspiring and energizing as I began in my new role.

How did you get involved in your area of work?
Lauren with her son, Mason.Lauren with her son, Mason. After completing my master's in education, I started my professional career as a classroom teacher at an elementary school. I discovered a passion for curriculum development and educational program design, which led me to transition into education development roles. When I found the opportunity at the Academy, it was the perfect fit—combining my background in education with the chance to support innovative learning initiatives in medical education. I'm motivated by the knowledge that strong educational programs ultimately contribute to better patient care and outcomes in otolaryngology.
