This year, the AAO-HNS collaborated with the Association of Otolaryngology Administrators (AOA) to condense the length of the 2017 Socioeconomic Survey and worked in conjunction with the AOA to gather the most comprehensive specialty data we’ve ever collected. The survey data gathered information from non-academic physicians, academic physicians, and their practice administrators, so it captured a broad economic practice snapshot. Survey results give vital practice information to members about the current healthcare environment and preview future trends in otolaryngology.

In June, the Socioeconomic Survey was disseminated to all members (excluding military, retirees, and those in training) and is currently being analyzed, along with data received from the AOA benchmarking survey.

Aggregate results will be displayed this fall at the AAO-HNSF 2017 Annual Meeting & OTO Experience and the AOA-35 Annual Educational Conference. Information will also be available on the AAO-HNS and AOA websites: entnet.org/content/socioeconomic-data and aoanow.org.
