Reg-ent and MatrixPPA Partner to Expand the Possibilities of Otolaryngology Research

The Reg-ent registry announces its new technology partnership, which will offer cutting-edge technology and tools to participants and the specialty.

Regent Matrix BaseReg-ent is constantly evolving in ways to enhance the quality of care in the specialty. In addition to maintaining Reg-ent's foundational features, which include Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) reporting, measure development, and providing a robust platform for cutting-edge research, Reg-ent is also expanding and adapting to meet the ever-changing needs of participants and harnesses the power of data to ultimately improve patient outcomes. Thanks to our new partnership with data acquisition vendor, MatrixPPA, we are enhancing our platform with cutting-edge technology and innovations. This new collaboration paves the way for improved data management, research, and analysis in otolaryngology-head and neck surgery.

What Will This New Partnership Offer?

MatrixPPA brings advanced data abstraction, artificial intelligence, and innovative solutions to the Reg-ent registry. This transition will greatly enhance the functionality and effectiveness of our platform, offering a more intuitive and powerful data-driven experience.

Enhanced Dashboard
We are pleased to unveil our new and improved dashboard, designed to offer a more meaningful and user-friendly interface. The upgraded dashboard will better support practices of all sizes—whether a solo practitioner, part of a large network, or affiliated with an academic medical center. This enhancement is aimed at providing participants with more intuitive and actionable insights, ultimately supporting better clinical decisions and research outcomes.

Data Transformation
This new partnership has already made impressive strides in converting data into discrete, actionable points. For instance, MatrixPPA has developed a platform to translate visual and other unstructured data like audiograms into discrete values. This technology also extends to clinical notes, enabling the assessment of symptoms, duration, and other details which in turn are mapped to SNOMED CT clinical terms, ICD codes, and RxNorm codes.

Looking Ahead

Images For October2024To make the transition process as smooth as possible, the Reg-ent team will be hosting a webinar at 12:00 pm (ET) on November 18 to introduce the MatrixPPA team and answer any questions. We invite both existing and interested practices to attend. Register here today!

For Current Participants
The Reg-ent team has begun transitioning its current practices to MatrixPPA as of October. We would greatly appreciate feedback on your experiences with Reg-ent and your reporting plans for the 2024 MIPS performance year. This feedback is crucial in shaping our timeline and ensuring a smooth transition to the new vendor. Your input will directly influence how we implement and optimize new features and improvements.

Note that our previous partner, MRO, will continue to support all quality measures and 2024 MIPS/MVP reporting throughout this transition period. Our focus is on maintaining our high standards and delivering reliable support throughout the transition.

For New Participants
For members who are not part of Reg-ent yet, now is the perfect time to join. If your practice would like to start participating in Reg-ent for 2025, please submit your request by completing the sign-up form. Although we aim to accommodate all new requests, we may need to stagger integrations owing to high demand.

How Was MatrixPPA Selected?

The vendor selection process was extensive and was guided by a seasoned consultant. A request for proposal (RFP) was developed and issued to a group of technical vendors that were qualified based on technical criteria. From the initial pool of respondents, four vendors advanced to a second round of interviews, from which two finalists emerged. The team then conducted multiple follow-up sessions with these finalists and evaluated them using a rubric developed in conjunction with the consultant. The Reg-ent leadership presented their recommendation to the AAO-HNSF Executive Committee on August 13, and MatrixPPA was approved.
