Staff Spotlight: Jenel Lansang, MSN, RN
Get to know the Academy’s Senior Manager of Reg-ent Quality and Performance Measurement.
How long have you been at the Academy?
I just reached my one-year anniversary at the Academy in January.
What do you do as the Senior Manager of Reg-ent Quality and Performance Measurement?
I oversee the development, implementation, and maintenance of quality measures for the Reg-ent registry. If you are not yet familiar with Reg-ent, it’s the largest, national otolaryngology-specific clinical data repository. While the main focus is on quality improvement and patient outcomes—my area—it is also the foundation for Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) reporting, research, and more.
Where is your happy place in or near the Academy’s headquarters in Alexandria, Virginia?
My happy place is the outdoor patio of the Academy’s headquarters. When the weather is nice, it is the best place to work while enjoying some sunshine.
What is something readers might be surprised to know about you?
My background is actually nursing, and I have been a registered nurse for almost nine years, having worked in several different areas (including medical-surgical, cardiology, neurology, urology, and orthopedics) before landing in healthcare quality.
Tell us about one of your most memorable moments working for the Academy.
One of my most memorable experiences at the Academy thus far was attending my first Annual Meeting in Miami Beach last year. I had the opportunity to meet members in person for the first time and share more about the exciting new updates to Reg-ent for this year!
Coffee or tea?
Both! It depends on what type of morning I’m having.
