The adoption of the Position Statement on Pay Parity is essential as the Academy seeks to empower all of our members to be supported in their own institutions and practices to ask for equal pay for their work.
The Position Statement was written under the direction of the WIO leadership and followed the Board-approved Position Statement Development Process, which includes a review by the Physician Payment Policy (3P) Workgroup after submission and prior to going to the Executive Committee.
Although this is only one step on the path to achieve equality at every level of our specialty, a Position Statement is a significant and tangible way that the AAO-HNS can support this issue on a global level for our members. Together, we are one, and together, we can affect the necessary changes and create the awareness that result in a world of equity for our specialty and beyond.
