Why Apply for a CORE Grant?
Since 1985, CORE has awarded more than 800 grants and more than $14 million for research projects, research training, and career development. Many recipients have gone on to secure NIH funding, earn national recognition, and build successful academic careers. For many young investigators, CORE grants are often the first funding they may receive, making it a critical launchpad of innovative ideas and impactful work in the specialty.
About the CORE Program
By centralizing the funding process, CORE brings greater scale, visibility, and efficiency to research funding in otolaryngology. The program reduces fragmentation across society-specific grant programs and showcases promising investigators and research trends to NIH and other industry sponsors. With a strong record of producing publications, advancing clinical practice, and shaping the next generation of research leaders, CORE remains one of the most impactful investments in the future of the specialty.
New grants this cycle
The 2026 cycle includes exciting new funding opportunities, such as a grant supported by Eli Lilly focused on genetic hearing loss, a grant from the International Surgical Sleep Society, and a new grant from our Reg-ent research team designed specifically for residents and early career trainees. These additions expand the opportunities CORE offers young physicians to pursue breakthrough research and drive innovation in otolaryngology–head and neck surgery.
