Payment reform updates on website

As the payment landscape continues to shift, the Academy has created a new section on the website that is devoted to keeping Members informed on the latest updates from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).  As a part of the SGR-ending legislation, the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act of 2015 (MACRA), two new payment programs were created: the Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) and Advanced Alternative Payment Models (APMs). This new Physician Payment Reform website section covers the requirements physicians must meet to avoid the new MIPS negative payment adjustment factors by either meeting the MIPS requirements or qualifying for APMs. For a quick comparison of the MIPS and APMs programs, use the Compare to Choose page (www.entnet.org/content/compare-choose).

As the programs are finalized, the Academy’s website will continue to be the place for otolaryngologist-head and neck surgeons to go to learn how to continue to receive proper reimbursement and avoid negative payment adjustments from CMS.
