Guest Countries for 2011 Meeting
Australia, France, Germany, Japan, Switzerland At the International Reception during the September 2010 annual meeting in Boston, MA, Academy President J. Regan Thomas, MD, announced his selections to honor five guest countries for the San Francisco meeting in 2011. Those countries are Australia, France, Germany, Japan, and Switzerland. While in Boston, Dr. Thomas met with representatives from most of these countries to discuss ways the Academy will recognize their delegates: Australia (Neil A. Vallance, MD, FRACS), France (Professors Jean-Pierre Bebear, Bernard Fraysse, and Olivier Sterkers), Germany (Professors Karl Hormann and Norbert Stasche), and Japan (Professor Juichi Ito). In addition to receiving a $100 guest discount, delegates from those countries will be recognized at the Opening Ceremony and at the International Dessert Reception, where Dr. Thomas will toast each country. Academy members, especially those who speak French, German, or Japanese, are invited to volunteer as greeters to welcome the guest country delegates. To learn more, contact Catherine R.
