Congratulations to the 2025 CORE Grantees

CORE grants recognize innovation in otolaryngology for generating new diagnostics, therapeutics, knowledge, and breakthroughs.

2024 Core Cycle Branded 1500x845Since 1985, the CORE Grants Program has supported high-impact research and trained the next generation of researchers in otolaryngology-head and neck surgery. In partnership with subspecialty societies and industry sponsors, CORE has awarded more than $13 million in funding to date. In 2025, the CORE grants program continues to drive innovation in otolaryngology with another outstanding class of grantees committed to evidence-based research and breakthroughs in the specialty.

Out of 177 applicants, 32 were awarded a CORE Grant in 2025, totaling over $550,000 awarded.

"We are thrilled to continue supporting some of the most promising young surgeon-scientists in otolaryngology as they explore innovative therapies and unravel disease mechanisms across our field. This year’s grants will fuel groundbreaking research in areas such as HPV-negative head and neck cancer, facial nerve regeneration, and genetic hearing loss. These advances are made possible thanks to the unwavering support of the AAO-HNS and our valued industry partners KARL STORZ, Akouos, and Stryker,” said Rick Nelson, MD, PhD, CORE Otology Subcommittee Chair.

Core Topics Word CloudOur awardees represent 24 institutions across the U.S. Research areas this year span clinical, translational, and basic science topics across all subspecialties in otolaryngology.

We are proud to recognize the researchers whose projects represent the future of otolaryngology. For more information about this year’s awardees, visit the 2025 CORE Grant Recipients page. Congratulations, 2025 CORE recipients!
