AAO-HNS/F Seeks Coordinator for Member Engagement

A Strategic Leadership Opportunity
Key Responsibilities
The Coordinator works directly with the Boards of Directors (BODs), staff, and members to provide strategic direction and recommends enhancements, changes, and new opportunities. The Coordinator helps to evaluate committee/section needs, works closely with chairs to maximize effectiveness, provides input and support in addressing challenges, and assists in creating programs to build a pathway of future leaders.
Specific duties include:
- Assessing internal and external factors affecting member engagement
- Making recommendations to the BODs regarding committees and sections including the creation of new volunteer opportunities or sunsetting of existing ones
- Collaborating with committee chairs and section leaders to optimize effectiveness and provide guidance on challenges
- Building leadership development programs to ensure a sustainable pathway of future leaders
- Providing regular updates to the BODs on engagement and ongoing needs for both domestic and international members
- Working within the organization on how to appropriately recognize member volunteers
Position Details
The Coordinator serves a single four-year term as a nonvoting member of the BODs. The position requires attendance at all regularly scheduled meetings of the BODs (with preparing updates three times per year), participation in additional BOD activities if requested by the AAO-HNS/F President, and adherence to the Academy’s code of ethics and disclosure policies.
The ideal candidate will have an understanding of the organization’s structure to include committees, sections, and other governance. Additionally, the candidate will have served in a leadership capacity on a committee, section, or other volunteer group and show a commitment to strengthening the organization's volunteer structure and leadership development initiatives.
Application Timeline
The search process is currently underway with a structured timeline:
- June 30, 2025: Deadline for submission of applications
- July–August 2025: Candidate interviews and finalist selection
- September 2025: Executive Committee review and Board approval
- October 2025: Coordinator-elect term begins
