IFOS World Congress, Seoul, South Korea
By Gregory W. Randolph, MD, David W. Eisele, MD, Eugene N. Myers, MD, and Chong-Sun Kim, MD, PhD The AAO-HNS has had a long history of support and participation in the IFOS World Congress. At the last IFOS World Congress in Sao Paulo, Brazil, in 2009, the AAO-HNS sponsored a Head and Neck symposium (organized by Eugene N. Myers, MD) with four main topics and 13 internationally known speakers from the U.S. and around the world. In addition, James E. Saunders, MD, and Richard L. Wagner, MD, both organized humanitarian symposia in support of the IFOS Hearing for All initiative, which generated enthusiastic response. Professor Chong-Sun Kim, MD, PhD, IFOS World Congress President sends this message: Dear Colleagues and Friends, The Korean Society of ORL-HNS is honored to host the 20th IFOS World Congress. The main theme of the Congress is “Innovation and Integration in ORL-HNS,” which highlights the growing importance of collaboration and sharing information as we strive to advance otorhinolaryngology throughout the world. As in past IFOS World Congresses, an esteemed faculty of international chairpersons and speakers will present a groundbreaking and innovative scientific program, which will provide information on the latest developments, in addition to valuable insights on routine clinical work. Seoul has been a capital city for more than 600 years, and the city’s unique blend of traditional Asian culture, advanced technology, and cutting-edge style will certainly bring a memorable experience to all participants. Delegates will enjoy visiting sacred palaces, temples, and rich historic sites during and after the Congress through daily and post-Congress tour programs. We hope you can join us in the most successful IFOS World Congress for the common goal of advancing and developing the field of ORL-HNS in different parts of the world With warmest regards, Chong-Sun Kim, MD, PhD Dr. Myers comments, “I feel certain that under Dr. Chong-Sun Kim’s leadership this meeting will be a tremendous success. Dr. Kim has extensive experience in organizing and running both national and international conferences. I was the guest of honor at a recent meeting in Seoul of the International Federation of Head and Neck Oncologic Societies (IFHNOS), one of the best organized and information-rich meetings that I have participated in. I encourage all of our U.S. colleagues to attend the meeting, which will be of inestimable value to your practice and also an invigorating cultural experience. Seoul is a wonderful, very modern city with access to other interesting locales which your family will certainly enjoy.” David W. Eisele, MD, adds, “This is an outstanding Congress with excellent educational offerings, interactive sessions, and collegial interaction with head and neck specialists from around the world.
